R004 - 6 Thinking hats
My Research on Edward De Bono's "6 Thinking Hats". Short Description of each of the 6 hats;
The italics is where I have contextualized each description to a specific exhibition group task. My Group ended up being Tim and I, and we were the "Web group" where we designed and created the website. So I shall base my descriptions off the tasks we faced.
White Hat: (facts & information) A fact in the information. Analysing past trends and what you've learnt from it.
Web: Whilst designing the website, we noticed that we had to stick to our information that was given to us, the information we gathered that year was that Dreamweaver was a pain, so bringing the website up was going to be challenging.
Red Hat: (feelings & emotion) Stating your feelings. How others will react emotionally.
Web: We had to create a website that would please everyone. Therefore we asked a few classmates what they'd prefer for the upcoming website.
Black Hat: (negatives) Identifying the problem barriers, hazards, risks
Web: There were many problems such as the time frame, The amount of work we had to put in it let alone complete our artwork for to hang up for the exhibition. Our defeat was pressure.
Yellow Hat: (positives) Identifying benefits associated with the idea or issue.
Web: Positives were that we would be acknowledged for creating the website (swell as everyone in the whole process of the rising of the exhibition) But it's something that would definitely be remembered seeming that the use of internet is a popular was of accessing information.
Green Hat: (new ideas) thinking new thoughts.
Web: There were many different designs, and many ways to approach how to create it the most simplest, creative, and fastest.
Blue Hat: (the big picture) working together, everyone discussing & thinking the process through to get the big picture.
Web: I think twice or three times a week we met up and talked about the subject.
I Think by using the 6 different types of hats within our groups will help us move forward. But not only for the groups I think using some of the key point if not all the keypoint's for our exhibition artwork can also help us reflect on it as well as improve it if we're struggling to execute our artwork. For example the white hat; When I make a poster I want to make sure I put all the information I want my target audience to see and remember. Not only that I want to look at my last trends or styles and maybe not try to repeat them as they weren't so memorable.
