Week12: Collaboration_13.10.2012 ~

Collaboration:
collaborate means working together.

what are the 3 best things about your efforts for this years exhibition ?
The 3 best efforts for me is;
- more collaborating than I thought I'd do
- more organizing and getting organized.
- Making and putting my actual art work together because its not like every year i get to make a jeans advertisement.

R001 - Another of my best efforts is my "dedication" lol.

Did you manage time well?No I don't think I did, but then I did. I didn't because I still have many things to do, in little.
Did you manage materials well i.e test prototypes?
No I haven't because I still need to test other things out.
Have you researched installation methods?Yes, I was thinking about just gluing my poster to a A2 sized cardboard piece and velcrobbing it to the wall. Hopefully the cardboard won't be too heavy, and for the brochure I want a white Clinth thing
Have you made a shortlist of the essentials for the last WEEK?
No I haven't, but I'm going to write one now;
For Exhibition:
- Velcrobe
- Clinth
- Artwork (brochure, Comic book cover, Flyer & business card)
- Description tag thing

For Uni:
- GET I.P's done, photoshop and dreamweaver
- Check Blogs & visual diaries
- Work on comic book cover
- Email Illustraitors
- Get content for website

That's all I can think of right now.
Short list of what i need in the last 24 hours?I need to get my act together thats what, and check that all my artwork is there and up, make sure no spelling mistakes, everything right.

R002 - This is what my short list of things i need to do looks like.

Blog Exercise – Using Failure
Discuss these questions in regards to the exhibition.

1 . List and describe 2 areas of failure in your preparation for uphere
First area of failure: Communication. I really felt at times that it was hard to communicate with some other groups because they'd ignore you or be too busy with their own portfolios or exhibition work. Some other communication problems were that some people wouldn't listen or just disagreed with your opinion, I ran into that problem a couple times but nothing too severe. In saying that if it happened all the time, a lot of informations and collaborating would be missed and if we improved in that area we could've had even more of a amazing exhibition.
Second area of Failure: Getting organised. some groups including my own weren't very organised and last minute, it definitely brings some of the other groups down in regards to sharing information, or just slowing productivity down. For example Tim and I were to make the website for the exhibition but we were so unorganised and lacked communication we ended up giving up and cracking under pressure and time that we didn't create the website.

2. Describe how you could realistically improve on this next time you exhibit
Next time I exhibit: Ways that I could improve and would make productivity much faster and efficient would be communication. That is one of the major keys. Talking to your lecturer when you stuck on a problem and figuring out ways to approach it and the solve it. Also setting deadline for yourself. For myself personally I am one to be late and never meet deadlines so next time I should set it a week or a couple days before the cut off date. Depending on what I'm creating and how much time I think I'll need. Writing things down is very helpful especially in a organised manner, i.e. Sticky notes or colour coordinate the different sections of your work so it's pieced together easier. And if I ever make a hands on practical creation/design again I'll be more hands on and get straight into. Don't mess around wasting time writing a essay about it, just do it and then write about it, document all the trials and errors and that should help finish the project. For example last year I wanted to make a complicated shoe box, I spent too much time thinking about it then experimenting with the shape. Therefore I lost time and ended up exhibiting a design instead of a package. So three keys; Be organised, Be loud and communicate, Be hands on!

R004 - This is a video about confetti and throwing it on new years.
in regards to, communicating and the little slip ups, every detail counts so it can look amazing.
